This blog will be a new attempt to record and share some of my philosophic reading with my friends.
To situate myself in philosophic space, I should describe myself as a Thomist in metaphysics, a realist, and a Southern conservative of the Calhoun/agrarian variety in political philosophy. Currently, I am reading both Catherine Pickstock and John Milbank, who are founders of the school of Radical Orthodoxy. I am not sure that I am ready to sign on as a disciple, but I find the debate intriguing and invigorating. I am also, on the political front, reading a great deal in Eugene Genovese and in other Southern Conservatives. The latest political crisis, for what else can the recent election be called, has sent me back to revisit the roots of true Conservatism.
If you are interested in coming along with me, let's see how far this ride takes us. I am hardly a faithful blogger, and have not been particularly successful before, but am always willing to make a new start.
